He married Janet Kennedy, and died about 1575.
He was father of,
1. James Stewart of Ardgowan,
2. William Stewart.
3. Dougal Stewart.
He was also father of a natural son;
4. William Stewart, in favour of whom a precept for letters of legitimation passed the Privy Seal on 18 June 1546.
