Father, on 15 January, 1554, to be held by himself and Elizabeth Buttar, his future spouse, daughter of John Buttar of Gormock, He m. in 1554 to the said Elizabeth, daughter of John Buttar, of Gormack, (she m. secondly to Patrick Ogilvy of Inchmartin, who was then widow of Marjorie, daughter of Patrick Lord Gray, and d. in May of 1590), and was father of,
1. Sir James Stewart, 2nd of Ballechin,
. 2. George Stewart, of Drumnacarff, styled as brother of Sir James Stewart when he appears as a charter witness on 10 November, 1596, and was party to the kidnapping of Rachel Bonar, in 1605. He obtained the lands of Drumnacarff, was witness to a Charter of Sale by Fergus Fergusson of Balledmond for the lands of Dalshean in favour of Duncan Fergusson in Balleyecone on 11 May, 1631, and had issue.
3. Patrick Stewart, witness to a Discharge by his brother Sir James Stewart for 1500 merks Scots for victual to Sir Duncan Campbell of Glenorchy on 25 October, 1595.
4. Hugh Stewart, styled as brother of Sir James Stewart of Ballechin in a charter dated 7 July, 1590.
5. John Stewart, apprenticed to Thomas Paterson, Merchant in Edinburgh, on 27 November, 1593, and kidnapped Rachel Bonar, sister of James Bonar of Rossie, on 3 June, 1605, for which he was pursued by the Privy Council. He obtained the lands of Arnaguay. He was father of,
5a} George Stewart, was styled eldest son of John Stewart.
5a} Robert Stewart, 1st of Arnaguay, became a merchant in Dunkeld and purchased the lands of Arnaguay from Sir Thomas Stewart of Grantully, in October of 1654. He had issue,
6.Anne Stewart, m. in 1578 to Captain George Leslie, of Balgonie, and had issue.
7. Isabel Stewart, m. to John Stewart, 3rd of Foss, and had issue.
8. Margaret Stewart, m. in 1589 to Robert Stewart, 4th of Fincastle,and had issue.
9. Barbara Stewart, m. in 1597 to Andrew Herring, 1st of Callie, second son of Andrew Herring of Glasclune, and had issue.
10. Sybilla Stewart, m. to George Leslie, of Urquhill, and had issue.
