JAMES Stewart
Fifth High Steward

JAMES, FIFTH HIGH STEWART. Born about 1243. He married Egidia, sister of Richard de Burgh, Earl of Ulster, and died 1309.
They had
(a) Andrew, died before his father.
(b) Walter, his successor WALTER , Sixth High Steward .
(c) Sir John, killed at Dundalk 1318.
(d) Sir James of Durisdeer, died without issue.
Arms-The Seals of the fifth High Stewart of about 1270 and 1296 show the fess chequy (Laing).
