DAVID Stewart
Earl of Strathearn, Caithness

(62) DAVID STEWART, eldest son of King Robert II. ROBERT II, King of Scotland, by his second wife. He was born about 1358, and was EARL OF STRATHEARN in 1371, and shortly after this date was created Earl of Caithness. He died before 1389, leaving a daughter
a) Euphemia, Countess of Strathearn and Caithness. After 1390 she resigned the latter Earldom to her uncle, Walter, Earl of Atholl WALTER, Earl of Atholl. She afterwards married Patrick Graham, who in her right became Earl of Strathearn.
Arms: of Earl of Strathearn on his Seal, i374.-A fess chequy between two chevronels, all within a double tressure ftory~counterftory (Laing). Gold, a fess chequy blue and silver between two red chevronels. All within a red double tressure flory-counter-flory (Burke). [Plate III., fig. 48].
