JAMES IV Stewart
King of Scotland

KING JAMES IV., known, from the belt due to his guilt of having fought against his father at Sauchieburn, as "James_of_the_Iron_Belt."
He was born 1473, and was killed at the battle of Flodden, 1513.
He married Margaret Tudor, eldest daughter of King Henry VII. of England.
They had these children:
1 James Stewart, b. at Holyroodhouse, on 21 February 1507 and d. at Stirling, on 27 February 1507/08.
2) Arthur Stewart, b. at Holyroodhouse, on 20 October 1509 and d. at Edinburgh Castle, on 14 July 1510. He was buried at Holyroodhouse.
3)JAMES V, King of Scotland, who succeeded .
4. Alexander Stewart, Duke of Ross, b. at Stirling Castle, on 30 April 1514 and d. on 18 December 1515.
5. A daughter, b. on 15 July 1508 and d. immediately after being christened.
King James IV. had a illegitimate son by Marion Boyd :-
6 Alexander Stewart, born about 1493. Created Archbishop of St. Andrews, 1505; Chancellor of Scotland, 1510. Fell at Flodden, 1513.
7. Catherine Stewart, was also a child by Mary, daughter of Archibald Boyd of Bonshaw and m. by 10 December 1507, to James Douglas, 3rd Earl of Morton, They had issue.
8. James Stewart, Earl of Moray, JAMES, Earl of Moray, EARL OF MORAY He m. Elizabeth, daughter of Colin Campbell, 3rd Earl of Argyll, (she m. secondly, to John Gordon, 10th Earl of Sutherland, by whom she had no issue), and d. on 12 June 1544 having had issue.
9. Margaret Stewart, was a child by Margaret, daughter of Sir John, 1st Lord Drummond, and was b. in 1497. She m. firstly, to John, Lord Gordon, eldest son and heir of Alexander, 3rd Earl of Huntly, by 26 April 1510 She m. secondly, to Sir John Drummond, 2nd of Innerpeffray, and had a legitimation under the Great Seal on 1 February 1558/9. She had issue.
10. Janet Stewart, was a child by Isabel, third daughter of James Stewart, Earl of Buchan. She m. Malcolm, 3rd Lord Fleming, ( 27 February 1524,1 with Dispensation dated 26 February 1525. He was killed at the battle of Pinkie on
10 September 1547), by whom she had issue, and was a mistress of Henry II.of France, by 1551, and by whom she had further issue.
The widow of King James IV. married, 1514, Archibald Douglas, Earl of Angus, whom she divorced, 1526. By him she had a daughter, Margaret Douglas, who married Matthew Stuart, fourth Earl of Lennox, and by him was mother of Henry, Lord Darnley HENRY, Duke of Albany , husband of Mary Queen of Scots.
Queen Margaret married, thirdly, Henry Stewart, created Lord Methven. (SeeHENRY, First Lord Methven ).
Arms: of King James IV. same as his father. BADGE: A thistle. His Queen had as SUPPORTERS: Two unicorns gorged with crowns and chained. BADGE: A crowned thistle. CREST: A lion sejant affront holding a sword and sceptre. MOTTO: "In_aefins"
