The charge for the Friday evening reception includes travel by private bus from Melrose/Abbotsford
to Bowhill. Travel by the bus is encouraged for administrative reasons, to facilitate entry of Members
and Guests to Bowhill as a group. The bus will return to Abbotsford/Melrose after the reception.
Early booking is advised since numbers are limited to 60.

Travel and Accommodation
The 2022 Gathering will be based around Abbotsford House the home of Sir Walter Scott. Abbotsford lies three miles to the west of Melrose in the Scottish Borders. Abbotsford can be reached by train from Edinburgh Waverley to Tweedbank and shuttle bus (by prior arrangement) from Tweedbank station. There are scheduled bus services from Edinburgh to Melrose changing at Galashiels., There is also a scheduled bus service to Melrose from the East Coast mainline train station at Berwick-on-Tweed. Directions and a road map can be supplied for those travelling by car. Free parking is available at Abbotsford House.
Edinburgh Airport is the nearest Airport.
Some accommodation has been reserved in Abbotsford House, Hope Scott Wing. Preference will be given to attendees from outside the United Kingdom. Please contact the Secretary but be aware that space is limited. There are several excellent hotels, B&B´s and other accommodation available near to Abbotsford as ever book early as the Borders are popular.
Please ensure that your travel insurance covers the cost of cancellation. In exceptional circumstances the Council of the Stewart Society may exercise its discretion to give refunds in whole or in part on compassionate grounds.
